A graduate from the University of Florida, Justin Taylor has had over 10 years of professional architectural experience encompassing a variety of scales and typologies. Since working for traverso-vighy in Italy in 2005, he has had a deep interest in sustainability and working with existing buildings. Returning to the US, he completed his master’s thesis and moved to Princeton, NJ, where he worked for JZA+D doing a variety of small scale retail and residential buildings, and eventually became a certified Passive House designer in early 2015 with the Passive House Institute.
Since then, he has been an advocate for the Passive House standard in both New Jersey and New York, and is one of the founding members of New Jersey Passive House. In 2016, he joined Chris Benedict R.A. as a project manager and has since done WUFI and PHPP studies for several on-going projects, as well as managing construction documents and developing strategies in order to create high efficiency buildings. Together with David Newman, he is overseeing the design and certification of 12 existing multifamily retrofits in Brooklyn to meet the PHIUS standard.
