Stephen Stuart brings to their work a range of professional experience, from sustainable building materials and practices to renewable energy technologies, curriculum development, emergency management and building codes. Stephen’s deep dive into building restoration began in earnest in 2001 with the purchase of an 1890/1939 building that consumed 2000 gallons of oil annually. Applying knowledge gained through NESEA seminars, workshops and conferences, that building is now economically conditioned by cold climate air source heat pumps.
They serve as Assistant Chief and Safety Officer of the Narrowsburg Fire Department and is a member of the Sullivan County Dive Task Force.
Stephen joined the Sullivan County Office of Sustainable Energy in January, 2017. Their work as Sustainability Analyst focuses on benchmarking County building energy consumption and, in collaboration with the County’s Building Engineer, finds opportunities to lower GHG emissions and fuel costs for County building stock.
