John has over 25 years of experience in high performance building systems design. An active member of ASHRAE, AEE and USGBC, he has extensive experience in the design of numerous institutional and commercial facilities that require effective infrastructure to support occupant health, safety, comfort and productivity while minimizing energy and water usage.

John is a member and past chair of ASHRAE Technical Committee TC 2.8 Building Environmental Impacts and Sustainability, and is the Senior Editor of the 2nd and 3rd Editions of the ASHRAE Green Guide – a best-selling publication and one of the more prominent green guides in the institutional and commercial building design industry. Swift is also the chair of the committee for the proposed ASHRAE Standard for Water Efficiency (SPC 191). John also served on Governor Patrick’s MA Zero Net Energy Buildings Task Force.
