Tom Chase is a Senior Project Manager at New Ecology, Inc., where he joined in 2014. At NEI he provides sustainable design guidance for new construction and existing building projects including LEED, Enterprise Green Communities, ENERGY STAR, and Passive House certification and oversees internal project teams. He is also the climate change adaptation lead, with extensive experience in resilience planning and design for multifamily housing and critical facilities. Mr. Chase developed NEI’s climate change resiliency assessment protocol and tool to drive improvements in building performance and occupant health during and after extreme and chronic climate change impacts and he continues to build on that work from the individual project up to the portfolio, state, and national levels.

Tom also provides clients with solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, battery storage, and virtual net metering, power purchase agreement, and electric vehicle charging station technical and financial analysis.

Prior to joining NEI, he most recently served at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on the Secretary’s Energy Policy staff in tracking multifamily building energy use nationwide, updating energy code adoption for the agency’s assisted housing portfolio, and contributing to multiple HUD climate change preparedness initiatives.

Mr. Chase has a background in ecology and urban environmental management and holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biology from Wesleyan University and a Master’s of Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. He is a Certified Passive House Consultant, and a Massachusetts State Certified Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Provider.
